Pineapple
I Love, Love, Love Pineapple! Pineapples are 5 x more effective that cough medicine!
This fruit has serious attitude, spiky on the outside, sweet on the inside and to top it off it wears a crown!
Ever eaten too much pineapple and had a sore tongue? Bromelain breaks down proteins in meat & flesh – tenderising meat, including our mouths, and whilst it is great for cleaning the tongue and other soft tissues of the mouth, too much can leave your mouth feeling a bit raw.
My advice for a cough, a sore throat or to freshen and keep tongue clean is Pineapple, daily Probiotics are a constant (it is all about the gut health always!) and Coconut Oil for almost every ailment (see Coconut Oil info) added with a bit of Vicks Vapour rub for good measure (ball of feet for chesty coughs, foreheads for headaches and on cotton wool for earache) that is basically my Medicine Cabinet!
The pineapple is a tropical plant with an edible fruit. I was lucky, when on a Dentaid charity trip to Uganda in 2016 our Ugandan driver Stevie took us to his pineapple plantation, we were given a tour and served straight from the plant! (Baby pineapples are ridiculously cute!).
Little fact about pineapple:
Did you know that there is a group of enzymes in pineapple called Bromelain? Bromelain breaks down proteins dissolving mucous in the lungs, it has anti-inflammatory purposes and fights respiratory problems!
